Guide to Athens

Ancient marbles whisper. Let’s turn up the volume.

About Your Guide

I'm Charis — and Athens is my lifelong story.

A licensed guide certified by the Greek Ministry of Tourism, and a passionate storyteller who has spent years uncovering Athens’ layers: the mythological, the archaeological, and the deeply human.

Whether you come to Athens with a notebook, a family, a team, or simply curiosity, I create experiences that stay with you long after you leave the city. Every visit I lead is unique, because every group is unique, and that never gets old.

Being a licensed guide isn't just a title — it's what stands behind every story you hear: true, rooted in years of study and a genuine love for this city.

Everything You Need to Know

From private tours and treasure hunts to booking details and practical information, here are the answers to the questions we hear most often.

With a private tour, the pace is yours. We stop when something interests you, slow down for questions, adapt to your children or your curiosity. There is no fixed script and no strangers pulling the group in a different direction. It is your Athens, not a shared one.

Absolutely. Many groups start with the Acropolis in the morning and end with a food walk or a Byzantine tour in the afternoon. Tell me how many days you have and what interests you — I will suggest the right combination.

Children are honestly my favourite audience — they ask the questions adults are too polite to ask and they have zero tolerance for anything boring. Which means I have to be good. I adapt constantly: shorter explanations, stories with gods who argue and heroes who make mistakes, questions thrown back at them before they drift. I have never lost a child’s attention on this hill. I have had to slow down for the parents though.

In Greece, only licensed guides are legally permitted to lead tours inside museums and archaeological sites. Unlicensed guides can be stopped by authorities mid-tour — and the tour ends immediately with no refund. A licensed guide means you are protected, informed and in the hands of someone who completed rigorous university-level studies certified by the Greek Ministry of Tourism. It also means I pay taxes, operate a fully legitimate business and am accountable to a professional body. You are not booking an activity. You are booking an expert.

For groups over 20 people, at least 3–4 weeks notice is ideal. For smaller executive groups, 10 days is usually enough. The sooner you contact me, the more I can customise for you.

Take This With You.
