If the Acropolis is the crown, the Agora is where everything was decided, debated and lived. This is where Athens worked — where grain was weighed, laws argued, votes cast and reputations made. Where democracy was a daily, noisy, occasionally chaotic practice. Where Socrates stopped people mid-sentence and asked them to explain themselves.
We follow Simon — a cobbler whose workshop stood just outside the Agora, friend of Socrates, possibly the first person to write down their conversations. Archaeologists found his shop. They found his wine cup with his name on it. He was real. He was here. We see Athens through his eyes.

- Ostracism — once a year, Athenians could exile anyone for ten years with a pottery shard and no trial. Thousands of these shards have been found here, names still legible.
- Simon's wine cup — small, unassuming, extraordinary. The most human object in the Agora.
